Original item, performance and volume of which I am perfectly happy, is begining to need replacement. Wondering if anyone knows how to source an OEM pipe or a lighter weight stainless steel replacement.

I see there are lots of pipe builders here in Oz but if i can get something off the shelf or an OEM pipe I'd be happy.

You might try asking this in the tech forums rather than the wanted forums. I can move the thread there if you would like.

No idea what's available in Oz, but I know there are a number of good choices available in the UK. I would assume that at least some of them would ship to a former colony. :)

since I posted I've found quite a few local options, none of which are very appealing. I'm thinking I will keep my headers and either repair the muffler or replace it, but since its welded to the header pipes (its an unusually wide diameter junction too) muffler replacement could be tricket.

I'm thinking I might just rivet a stainless stell or aluminium sleever over the muffler unit to get some more life out of it and conceal the rust bubbles - in fact let it rust out from the inside! The header pipes are made from thick tubing and though rusty are in no danger of perforating.
