RUNNING 750 CARBS ON MY ZEPHYR 550 Options

HI HAS ANYONE TRIED USING BIGGER CARBS ON THERE BIKE FROM STOCK CARBS,I HAVE SOME ZR750F CARBS WHICH LINE UP PERFECTLY I JUST GUESSED WITH A BIGGER INTAKE OF AIR AND THE CARBS SET FOR A 750 ID GET MORE FUEL AND AIR INTO THE ENGINE TO CAUSE MORE BANG FOR MORE MOTION BUT BEING NEW TO BIKES IM NOT SURE PLUS WOUNDN'T KNOW IF THERE ARE ANT MORE ASPECTS I SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT

Whay change from the CV30's? I'm running a lot of bolt-on mods, minus the cams, and still getting good air/fuel with the stock TK27 Carbs. I know another GPz550 Owner that is running the Zephyr CV30 Carbs with a 615cc Kit too.

Short answer is that if you go too big you lose the pressure drop in the carb throat that draws fuel into the airstream. Otherwise, bikes would all have massive carb throats as there would be no downside. Smaller throats mean better metering of fuel and better atomization.

Unless you have done some substantial work to your bike to make a LOT more power at the very top end of the engine's rev range, you'll only hurt the bike's throttle response and fuel economy by making a sizable upward jump in carb throat size.
